HEALTH CARE

Walton County is supported by one hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast in Miramar Beach. Medical professionals from a number of general and specialty practices, along with the neighboring medical facilities of North Okaloosa Medical Center in Crestview and Twin Cities Hospital in Niceville also address the community health care needs.

Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast is a 50-bed hospital located east of Destin in Walton County, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and Mack Bayou Road. The hospital offers a wide range of medical and surgical services including: an intensive care unit, general and orthopedic surgery, cardiology, cancer care, comprehensive radiology and laboratory services, as well as 24-hour emergency care. Sacred Heart continues its investment in the community by continually adding staff, expanding services and providing free health screenings and health education seminars. The not-for-profit hospital has also fulfilled its mission to improve the health of the community at large, with special attention to service of the poor. In 2004 alone, Sacred Heart doubled the size of its Emergency Department, added inpatient dialysis services, opened a cardiac rehabilitation program and an outpatient cancer center providing radiation therapy, and recruited physicians to the Emerald Coast including specialists for lung diseases, urological problems, allergies, ear, nose and throat surgery, eye diseases, heart disorders, interventional radiology and vascular surgery.

The hospital is extraordinarily proud of the fact that patient satisfaction rates have consistently scored over 93%. Should you, your loved ones or guests require medical attention, rest assured that you will find the highest quality care at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. We truly believe the best care comes from the Heart.
